Our Story
Caribbean Breast Assessment Ltd was founded by Dr. Stepahnie Lyew, a dedicated surgeon whose journey towards improving breast care in Jamaica is both inspiring and transformative. Driven by a profound passion for surgery, she embarked on her medical career with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, igniting a deep-seated commitment to healing.
Throughout her internship and subsequent residency, Dr. Lyew discovered her calling within the realm of breast surgery. Recognizing the importance of specialized care in this field, she pursued advanced training, culminating in a Doctor of Medicine in General Surgery from the University of the West Indies Faculty of Medicine in 2016.
Fuelled by her desire to offer the best possible care to her patients, Dr. Lyew sought further expertise through an international fellowship at the Fiona Stanley Hospital Breast Assessment Unit in Western Australia. Here, she honed her skills in the assessment and management of breast diseases, from benign conditions to complex cases of breast cancer.
Armed with this wealth of knowledge and experience, Dr. Lyew founded the Caribbean Breast Assessment Limited (CBAL) with a singular mission: to make advanced breast care accessible to all Jamaicans.
